How to Keep Your Cider & Perry in Tip Top Condition

The popularity of real cider is rising as more people discover how deliciously mellow and aromatic the flavours of naturally-produced cider can be. A glass of real cider or perry represents generations of production dating back hundreds of years. The basics of cider production have remained the same the whole time – simply pick and press the fruit, allow to ferment and enjoy.

What's the best way to store cider & perry?

Bag in boxes are the perfect way to store your cider and perry and keeps the product at its optimum condition stopping the cider coming into contact with the air and oxidising. The cider is contained within a plastic bag with integral tap, the bag collapses in on itself when the cider or perry is drawn out.

The integral tap on the bag in box can be connected to a hand-pump or beer engine via a Bag In Box adapter, allowing the cider to be served from a pub cellar to a bar. Most makers are happy to supply pump clips upon request.

It is recommended that you store cider or perry at a similar temperature to that of real ale in a cellar environment if at all possible. This will ensure that it is kept in best condition and allow for an optimum shelf life.

Please note that large variations of temperature can cause the product to deteriorate and in extreme cases cause a re-fermentation, particularly with the sweeter ciders and perries.
